Good morning, family! Welcome to a brand-new week. Let’s dive in:

For the past few months, I’ve been ignoring the use of my cane indoors because I wanted to feel the freedom of movement, at least while I’m home. At the same time, I seem to set the cane down and move on without it and then can’t locate it. It’s going to be like needing cheaters to read, I’m going to need a cane in every room of the house so the odds of having one close by is improved.

So here’s the thing, I like my freedom of movement in the house, but I still answer to Newton’s laws of gravity. Translation: use the cane, or risk becoming a bruised apple after hitting with the floor. Cindy is not a fan of cleanup in aisle 5 (or whatever aisle I happen to be in), and honestly, every time I fall, it’s my wrists and right hip that end up objecting. If I break something…I’m really going to be in deep shit.

This weekend, I gave Cindy some instructions on tackling the demo trash situation. I even tried heroically to haul a couple of bags into the garbage can. Spoiler: after a few minutes in the garage, I hit the energy equivalent of my phone at 1%. So, I decided to honor Cindy’s long-standing policy of “Leave it where it is, and don’t cause extra work.” I think she’s going to record that line and force it onto my phone so it plays over and over until I get it. I must be a little stubborn.

Now, on a more serious and hopeful note: a friend of Cindy’s sent us information about a new Phase I clinical trial that the FDA lifted the hold on going forward. The pharmaceutical company is Amylyx and the drug is called AMX0114 (114 was our address in Lake Forest). The trial It isn’t enrolling participants yet, but maybe—just maybe—here’s a chance to try something new. I know most of these trials don’t pan out, but there’s always a little flicker of hope. If there’s a door to knock on, I’m going to knock.
