Good morning, everyone.

It is a heartbreaking morning as I learn of the collision, last night, between an Army helicopter and an American Airlines passenger plane at DCA. I’m deeply relieved that Nicole—and, to my knowledge, no other family members—were involved. Nicole reached out last night to let us know she had landed a couple of hours earlier. That was far too close. Still, my heart aches for those affected.

It feels inappropriate to dwell on my own situation, knowing that so many families and friends are anxiously waiting, holding onto hope that their loved ones have survived.

Hold each other close, say a prayer for the victims, and hope for whatever light can emerge from such a tragic moment.
