Good Morning!

What a whirlwind of fun these last two days have been with the kids and grandkids! Wyatt and Coco were all smiles, their energy boundless…at least whenever we were around. Whether they were just putting on a good show for us or truly basking in the moment, I don’t know, but I’ll take it!

It was a full couple of days—2,000 wobbly steps' worth, to be exact. And trust me, I feel every single one of them this morning. A day at Miley’s Playland, out to lunch, back home, then out again to CLB… it was a marathon of memory-making. Totally worth it.

By the time we got home around 6:00, I was moving at a snail’s pace, carefully making my way from the car to the house. Meanwhile, Bear was dead to the world, snoozing away in blissful ignorance keeping guard from his perch in the bedroom. I had to knock multiple times before I finally heard the telltale plunk—that unmistakable sound of him launching himself off the bed. A second later, he came barreling down the stairs, tail wagging, ready to greet me. Cindy was outside, rearranging cars in the driveway, so it was just me and my overly affectionate, slightly too-trusting pup.

In true Bear fashion, he flopped onto his back at my feet, demanding belly rubs as if he had just run a marathon himself. Of course, I obliged…who could resist that face happy tail-wagging? But as I unsteadily wiggled out of my coat, I glanced down at him and thought, Buddy, you are way too trusting for your own good. One wrong shift of my balance, and we’d both be in trouble. Fortunately, disaster was avoided this time. But one of these days, I swear, that dog is going to regret his blind faith in my coordination.

No mishaps, no accidents—just a heart full of gratitude for the last two days. Thank you, kiddos, for filling our home (and my step count) with so much love.

Alex and Nicole…tell me about your marathon training run from this morning…I’m interested in how you each felt and how you perceived each the other during the run. Who’s got edge to win the October bet?

Many of you are traveling. May you have a safe journey in the air and on the roads today. Super Bowl kick-off at 5:30 pm CST if you were on wondering.

Love you guys!❤️
