Good morning, everyone.
I got some solid feedback on electric bikes following yesterday’s post. The best advice? Get a three-wheeler. I can already see the day when mounting and dismounting a bike becomes an Olympic event for me. Probably best to steer clear of clip-in shoes… though I still have them, just in case I wake up one day feeling particularly brave (or reckless).
Lis and Steve stopped by for a visit after traveling cross-country the last couple of days. It’s a good thing we finally took down the Christmas tree last week—otherwise, we’d have been sipping coffee while wedged between tinsel and twinkling lights.
They had a chance to see the bathroom remodel and might take some inspiration (or caution) for their new condo. Hopefully, they like our design—or at least learn what possibly not to do. We’ve already got a couple of things that we would have done differently. Nothing fatal.
Dinner at Cooper’s Hawk was a hit. We started at 4:15, which is the sweet spot for early bird dining. Thankfully, Lis and Steve didn’t mind the senior dinner hour. Besides…there is happy hour dining from 3:30-5:30. We sampled a little bit of everything, and the food did not disappoint. As far as local restaurants go, this place is at the top of our list…at least among the ones we actually go to. Just to be clear, Georgio’s is still our go-to.
Today is my first face-to-face Tax-Aide session. Should be… interesting. Doing taxes involves a fair amount of conversation, and the more I talk, the more my words start to slur. Combine that with clients who already have hearing challenges, and we might have a lot of back-and-forth: Me: “Your missing a 1099.” Them: “WHAT?” Me: “A ONE-OH-NINE-NINE!” Them: “THIS IS ALL THEY SENT ME.” Me: Head drop and sigh. It’s going to be a fun time.
Then there’s the challenge of handling paperwork. If the tax documents are still sealed in an envelope? Yeah, let’s just say somebody else will be fishing those out. At least I can still navigate a computer without too much trouble.
Stamina-wise, these long days take a toll. We start at 8:30 AM and wrap up around 4:00 PM. If I’m smart, I’ll stay firmly planted in my chair and resist the urge to hop up and help others. That’s going to take some discipline—fingers crossed.
For those of you whose taxes I’m handling—start gathering your paperwork and send it my way. Let’s keep this train moving.
That’s all I’ve got for today. Until tomorrow—have a great Tuesday! Love you guys! ❤️
