Sunday, April 13, 2025 - Day 243

Good morning!

It’s the final day of The Masters—and if you’re even mildly into golf, this is about as good as it gets. It’s one of the few sporting events that’s actually good on TV and in person…I don’t have words to describe the feeling. Being there live definitely cranks the experience up a notch—really tenfold. The practice rounds feel special. But standing in the gallery during tournament play? That’s bucket-list stuff. Strike that…just being there is bucket-list stuff.

Now here’s a little secret: from June 1 to June 20, there’s a lottery for the chance to buy tickets to next year’s Masters. That’s how I was able to go last year for the Monday practice round—and believe it or not, tickets are affordable…seriously. The odds aren’t great, probably similar to an IRS audit, but you know what they say: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

So go ahead and enter. Even if you’re not planning to attend, throw your name in—because if you win, you can always make someone’s day by offering them the tickets (ideally at face value, because karma). Here’s the link: www.masters.com/en_US/tic…

We had a beautiful day here yesterday—perfect for being outside, at least in the morning. I do wish I had moved faster on submitting the application for the power wheelchair. It looks like it won’t arrive before our Minocqua trip. I’ll probably manage without it, but it’s holding up my ability to decide on a mobility scooter.

There are so many scooter options—some weigh around 45 pounds, others over 200. Speeds range from slow cruise to “chasing the ice cream truck.” If I go light and slow, it might not do much more than the wheelchair. If I go heavier and faster, transporting it becomes an issue—even when they break down into parts, those parts still require a second person (with decent upper body strength) and I’m not the first or second person in the equation.

So for now, I’m stuck in scooter limbo. If anyone’s gone through this and has tips—what worked, what didn’t—I’d love to hear your experience.

We might make another run to the local mobility store this morning before The Masters coverage starts at 11:00 CST. Priorities, right!

Switching gears… My triplet brother Tim was in town last week, mainly to dig through old photos for a project he’s working on for me. Based on what we looked through, I have a feeling it’s going to include equal parts nostalgia and mild embarrassment.

Most of the pictures were from the ‘70s and ‘80s—peak awkward years, with legendary hairstyles, questionable clothing choices, and some activities that probably don’t need to be revisited in high resolution. Still, we had a great time going through them. A couple hours of laughter, fuzzy memories, and reliving the glory days (or at least the “good stories” days).

It was also a nice reminder of the friendships that shaped those years—faces we haven’t seen in a while but haven’t forgotten. Judging by all the smiles in those photos, we clearly didn’t take ourselves too seriously, which might be the best part.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Tim puts together, no matter how many photos make me ask, “What was I thinking?” If anyone has pictures they’d like to share, reach out to him. If you need his contact info, let me know—I’ll happily pass it along

That’s it for now. I recommend being a couch potato today…take a break in life and enjoy the day.

Happy Sunday to you all.

Love you guys! ❤️

Videos of the grandkids. They have their wheels…waiting on Grandy to get his!
