Tuesday, September 2, 2025 – Day 385
Tuesday, September 2, 2025
Good morning.
Well… I’m back in my chair, but still no sign of the big bad brown spider. I’m just hoping it doesn’t decide to peek out while I’m sitting here.
I’ve been enjoying the Prey books and I’m on the last one that was mailed. (Hint, hint.) Of course, this week is packed with doctor appointments and other commitments, so reading time will slow down for a bit. I also want to give Amazon a chance to drop off any packages.
Yesterday, Tim came over and tackled the ramp. He showed up fully prepared—brace pre-built, tools in hand, confident it would be a quick 30-minute fix. But Murphy’s Law had other plans. No worries—Tim had backup supplies, adjusted his design on the fly, and four hours later had it all locked into place. A real labor of love.
Naturally, I had to take it for a test run with “the beast” (my 436-lb wheelchair) plus me on board. Sure, we could have skipped the guinea pig trial run—but what fun would that be? As nearly 600 lbs rolled across the aluminum ramp, there were a few groans and creaks, but everything held. I drove straight—though with only a few inches of clearance on each side, it’s definitely a job for slow, steady, and sober. Nice work, Tim… thank you!
Not long after Tim finished, Jody and Jay dropped by with a loaner set of golf clubs for Nikki to use in the ALS Classic. Jay, being a teaching pro, set her up with a beautiful set. With those in her hands, she should be able to send the ball a mile and set us up with birdie putts all day long. No pressure, right? Thanks, Jay…we promise not to leave any clubs orphaned green side.
This morning we’re off to Evanston to see the pulmonologist, followed by lunch with my high school friends. Early start today, so I’d better wrap this up.
Have a great Tuesday, everyone. Love you guys! ❤️
