Tuesday, September 9, 2025 – Day 392

Good morning! Wedding day T-minus 4 days.

Sorry if I’m a little obsessive about Alex and Nicole’s wedding this Saturday, but I’ve probably spent more hours thinking about this day than almost anything else in my life—because I was never sure how far my ALS would have progressed by now. A year ago, when I was just learning what ALS could do, I honestly wondered if I’d even still be here.

WELL, I AM! And I’m breathing a big sigh of relief (as big as my diaphragm can manage). I didn’t want to push for an early courthouse wedding that would have added a footnote to Sep 13. There are already enough footnotes in Snarski wedding history.

Alex and Nicole leave today for Maine. They’ve got to be giddy with excitement or maybe frazzled with too many details swirling around in their heads. I’m choosing “giddy.” Nicole has been calm and organized from the start…I’ve never seen her rattled.

Alex is a laid-back guy, and if he’s followed the marriage rulebook, he knows it’s the bride’s day and his job is simply to do what he’s told. (Just my perspective.) A couple weeks ago I reminded him: “You’re lucky to be invited!” From what I can tell, he’s played it smart—spending his time forging the rings, checking off his task list, and training for the marathon. Way to go, Alex.

Our house, meanwhile, is in full chaos mode. Cindy is juggling last-minute errands and trying to get us packed. This is our first time flying with me in a wheelchair plus all the ALS equipment, so we’ve got too many bags and not nearly enough hands. Thankfully, Barb and Mark are flying with us…“many hands make light work,” as the saying goes.

My job yesterday and today is to answer questions, handle the internet tasks, and otherwise stay out of the way. I bounced around between reading spots, ready to chime in when called. And yes, I’m still on my John Sandford streak…just finishing up Golden Prey (#27) and only have Twisted Prey left from my mysterious Amazon sender. Might need to hit the library 📚 for a backup soon.

Before I forget, I owe a belated shout-out to my niece Sally. She made pulled pork, and her mom brought a big container of it to the birthday dinner a few weeks back. We froze it, and this past week it’s been dinner more than once. It’s been outstanding. We’re down to one sandwich left. I’d arm wrestle 💪 Cindy for it, but even with two arms I’d lose. Rock-paper-scissors is my only chance. Thank you, Sally—it was delicious! 😋

Tomorrow we’re off to Maine at 7:00 a.m., so I’ll either be up extra early or keep the blog short. Either way, something will be posted before my self-imposed 7:00 a.m. CST deadline.

Have a great Tuesday. Love you guys! ❤️

The extra photo today is from a couple weekends ago when we stopped by Ivette’s home. A friend of Cindy’s from the Motorola days.
