Wednesday, October 1, 2025 – Day 414

Good morning!

Andy’s Army is inching closer to $50k for ALS United—less than $2,000 to go. Every little bit helps, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Yesterday, Cindy and I went to lunch at Lindy’s Landing in Wauconda, meeting up with Deb S.—a longtime running and triathlon friend—and Kim (yes, my former wife). It had been years since I’d connected with Deb. Back when I moved to Crystal Lake and was commuting to Florida for work, our paths just drifted apart. Life has a way of doing that.

Deb has been trying for months to set up this lunch, and despite busy schedules, she never gave up. I’m glad she didn’t.

It was an emotional afternoon for me—and for others at the table. We laughed about our tight-knit training group, remembered the goofy stuff that happens during 20-mile runs, caught up on kids and life, and, of course, talked about my ALS.

That last part is never easy. Going back to the beginning—my first symptoms, my diagnosis—always stirs something deep. I still hear the neurologist’s words: “I hope I’m wrong, but I think you have ALS.” I don’t mind sharing, and I welcome questions, but the tears sometimes come with the telling.

After two and a half hours of catching up, we promised to do it again—sooner rather than later.

I left lunch feeling grateful. Deb reminded me of the close friendship we once had, and how easily it picked back up after all these years. Thank you, Deb, for making it happen—and for quietly sneaking off to pick up the check.

We brought the Andy’s Army t-shirts with us so we made sure we didn’t miss taking photos. Remember…take pictures of you wearing the shirt, as many as you like, I want to see all the joy of the moment.

I ordered a dozen more shirts of various sizes…just in case people want some. They will be available next week. First come basis.

Have a great Wednesday.

Love you guys!❤️
