Saturday, October 4, 2025 – Day 416
Saturday, October 4, 2025
Good morning.
A couple of days left of mid-summer weather and then we’ll finally cool off for the marathon. Temps are looking good for both runners and spectators. Whew! These 90° days just don’t belong in October.
The Andy’s Army shirts have all been claimed. I’m still waiting for the second run to be completed—it’s going to be close to race day before they’re ready, but I’ll keep you posted.
Chrissy, my high school friend, charged out of the gate showing off her Andy’s Army spirit. Yesterday she sent me 20 photos of herself running around Waukegan in her shirt! Absolutely hilarious and so fun to see. She’s really making this a party. 🥳😁
The problem as I see it, is another high school friend, Bill has always been the star of the show. He’s got a lot of work to do if he’s going to catch Chrissy. Good luck Bill…time to step up.
I also dropped off shirts with some of my tax-aide volunteer group. I’m so glad they wanted in on the fun. While we were together, we started talking about the upcoming tax season—and found a way for me to still be part of the program. That news really lifted my spirits. I’m going to get certified this year, and if things go smoothly between now and February, I’ll be doing tax returns again—for friends and family. That should put a smile on a few faces… I think.
Cindy and I had lunch with Art, another high school buddy. We sat outside in the sunshine and talked about his upcoming trip to Poland. He’s going with a group from his wife’s Catholic church to visit several cathedrals. I told him he has to take photos wearing his Andy’s Army shirt at each one. He might need to change frequently—unless he wants to wear the same shirt every day, which might get a little ripe by week’s end.
After lunch, we made a quick stop at the public library. As soon as I got out of the car and started walking in, a wave of nausea hit me hard. I told Cindy it was probably best to head home and cool off. Back home, I hydrated and laid down—and five minutes later, Cindy found the final Prey book on the porch! No clue who my mystery gifter is, but thank you. The timing was perfect so I got started on the book, between naps. Finishing all 35 has been a fun challenge.
Come Monday I’ll be wanting a new book. I’ll be back to the library this weekend to switch up my reading genre.
Everyone have a great Saturday. Love you guys! ❤️
