Saturday, November 1, 2025 – Day 445

Good morning!

Welcome to November — the month where we all pretend we’re grateful for the shorter days, losing ~ one hour of sunlight by the end of the month and a sun that will set at 4:20 pm on 11/30. Depressing isn’t it!!

PSA It’s that ridiculous time again — time change weekend. Supposedly we’re all going to get an extra hour of sleep tonight. Sure we are. At 2:00 a.m., the clocks magically fall back and a few minutes after that, my body will just say, “Surprise! It’s 2:17 a.m. and you’re wide awake! See…I’m already stressed about this.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: please stop this insane ritual. Let’s all agree: pick a time and stick with it. Preferably the one where the sun doesn’t set at lunchtime.

Classic Car Cruise Mike swung by and scooped up Mark and me for one last ride in the red ’68 Mustang convertible. That car still puts a smile on my face — Mustangs are my favorite.

As much as I’d love to drive it (I did a couple of years back) reality says otherwise. I could barely crank up the window. It took two hands and a couple grunts, and still didn’t make it to the top. If I attempted to turn that old-school manual steering wheel, we’d never make it out our circle drive. So the passenger seat it is — and a very happy passenger at that.

Mike even treated us to lunch. So a Halloween success as far a “treats” go. ✅ Thanks Mike!!

Trick or Treater’s Report Once again, not a single trick-or-treater ventured down our street. We could put up a 50-foot inflatable haunted pirate ship with fog machines and spooky music, and still nothing.

So the full bag of Halloween candy now belongs to Cindy. I hope she picked a flavor she likes — because she just won Halloween by default.

Meanwhile, out in Virginia little Coco — 2½ years old — was out there handing out candy like a pro and not a single protest witnessed. She wasn’t even trying to keep any for herself. Nikki and Zack must have promised her a pony, a puppy, and a box of 64 box of Crayola Crayons. Adorable to watch. I’ll post a short clip — emphasis on short, thanks to the tech limitations of the blog.

Wardrobe Challenges Dressing these days is turning into a challenging event. I’m lucky to have a personal valet in Cindy. Getting a shirt on requires help, and buttons? That functionality retired months ago. Pants? I may be able to get them on, but I cannot get them off at the end of the day.

I can still manage lounge pants, but I’ve always had a self-imposed rule: Thou shalt not leave the house looking like a Walmart shopper.
Well… rules are meant to be broken. I may soon be rolling out in full comfort mode. If I’m going lounge-wear, I’m going big…think neon patterns, questionable fashion choices, and maybe a giant tiger face, with a t-shirt two sizes too small. Subtlety is overrated. Walmart, prepare yourself.

Weekend Plan Quiet weekend according to the wall calendar…perfect for online browsing for “easy-escape clothing” and prepping for Monday’s HOA board meeting. Sounds exciting, right?

Have a great weekend, everyone. Stay warm, stay safe, and don’t let the time change mess with you too much. I think I’ll start today and get ahead of it.

Love you guys! ❤️
