Saturday, December 13, 2025 – Day 487

Good morning, everyone.
12 days until Christmas. 🎄

If you’ve been paying close attention to the details of my blog, you may have noticed that I sometimes mix up days of the week and dates… more than I’d like to admit. Like yesterday—when I was convinced it was Friday the 13th.
Wrong!!

So anyway… please pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. I also try to recognize birthdays here on the blog, and that’s a little hit-or-miss as well. If I missed yours, I’m sorry. I’ll try to do better.

Birthdays…

December 13:

Cindy has been steadily packing up valuables on the first floor of the house. I’ve been warning her for a couple of months now that the big power chair needs to enter the picture, for a couple of reasons:

  1. I slide down when I sit and spend a lot of energy readjusting myself. I must have done much more of that yesterday, because my shoulders are sore this morning.
  2. It’s safer, if I don’t have to get up and steady myself behind the rollator…one less fall risk.
  3. I have an abrasion on my rear that came from one my recent falls and it burns when I sit, more so on the couch cushions and not so much in the wheelchair.

The power chair… It’s large, powerful, and capable of doing some real damage—so the breakable items need to go away before we bring the ”Beast” in the house.

We made space for the rollator, and now we need even more room. That means more furniture getting packed away. At this rate, our house is starting to look like a roller derby arena—with two power chairs roaming around.

Yesterday, I received a text from my niece Theresa letting me know she has signed up to run the Chicago Marathon with ALS United in support of Andy’s Army. When I read her message, I was completely overcome with emotion. I can’t fully explain it, but the tears of gratitude just started rolling down my cheeks. This is a huge commitment—and it will be her first marathon. I’m incredibly proud of her and so deeply thankful that she’s running on my behalf.
Thank you, Theresa. 💕

We’re in the middle of a deep freeze this weekend, so I plan to stay indoors, hang out by the fire, and read. No errands, no rushing around—and honestly, I’m perfectly happy being home.

Have a safe day, and bundle up if you head out. Thanks for reading. Love you guys! ❤️
