Happy Masters Sunday everyone.
I hope all you golf fans are enjoying watching the Masters this weekend.
If Andy were here he’d be sitting on the couch with a can of Virginia peanuts and watching the Masters. And later in the afternoon he’d crack open an IPA to go with the peanuts. He rarely watched TV during the daytime hours, but he made an exception for the Masters.
In 2024 Andy won four tickets in the Masters lottery. At first I didn’t believe him when he told me he won tickets, but when he made hotel reservations for our drive to Augusta then I knew we really were going to Monday’s practice round. The excitement kept building as we drove south toward Georgia. We met up with Nikki and Zack on Sunday and the four of us woke up long before sunrise on Monday and drove to Augusta National. I’ll never forget it. Azaleas were in full bloom and everything about the course and the weather was perfect. All the places we’d seen on TV were so much better in person. Augusta National is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. We were there on the day of the eclipse so we received cute Masters sunglasses as a bonus souvenir.
After walking most of the course and enjoying a bit of lunch, we decided to purchase Masters merch you can only buy at the Masters. When we finally got in the store after waiting in line for over an hour, Andy told me, “Everything’s expensive but buy whatever you want.”
I did a double-take. “What did you say?”
He repeated, “We will probably never be here again so get what you want.”
I raised my eyebrows and said, “Seriously?” I never thought I would hear him say those words.
I didn’t want him to change his mind so I didn’t hesitate. We grabbed a basket and shopped.
On our drive back home we stopped in Casey, IL to enjoy some of the 12 Guinness World Record-holding “World’s Largest” items – including a wind chime, golf tee, barber pole, pitchfork, rocking chair, wooden shoes, mailbox, and more.
So much has happened in the past two years. I’m really happy we experienced the Masters together along with Nikki and Zack. It’s a wonderful memory.
Love you guys ❤️
Cindy
